Amidst the COVID isolation I had lots of time to watch shows I wanted to for years. I thought I only started it last time I watched it. But for the time I watched it all. The 4th season is as far as I got and I gave up about half way through. Learning latter that the 4th season was the season written by a completely different writer. Dan Harmon was let go at the end of the 3rd as cowriters refused to work with him and scripts where always late for all the other departments to know what they where supposed to do. Sets being built the morning of the shoots.
But the magic that is Dan Harmon was a noticable loss and after a season they asked him to return and the season 4 writers when on to make more garbage (just a couple of marvel movies).
On my original viewing I never saw season 5 and it is written as if it was the end. But from the first season a running joke was they would get 6 seasons and a movie as is common for sitcoms to get. They found a 6 season on a Yahoo web show spot. Just read today the show went from somewhere in the 300-400 tv show popularity rang to #8 2 weeks after it was licensed by Netflix.
Season 6 was a very ending end to the show. Even more then 4, and season 5 tried to do before it. I mean each Sean is a school year so how do you have a show last 6 years with most the same staff with a story about a 2 year community college? After watching it for the second time I still can't verbalise the answer but it works. Just announced there are talks of a movie being a possibility 5 years after the season finale. Let's cross our fingers it is so.
